Perspective on Healing

- We are complex beings with interwoven physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Thus, true healing must include meeting a person on all those levels.

- At the core of most problems that afflict us is a falling out of harmony with our soul, our essential nature. Thus, at the core of healing, is a reconnection to that source.

- Each person, as every living being, possesses an internal wisdom and an innate healing ability. A healing encounter must be connected to and guided by that wise source.

Background

My healing work is informed by my rich and multidimensional background and life. Prior to manual therapy I have studied and explored  clinical psychology, holistic health, healing through creative and ceremonial arts, yoga & dance. I am grateful to have received my education in massage therapy from De Anza College, CA, and my on-going studies in Craniosacral therapy from Upledger Institute, where I have been fortunate to study with some of the leaders in this field. In 2017 I also fell in love with Thai Floor massage. I have since pursued education in this modality at the acclaimed Spirit Winds School of Thai Massage in Grass Valley, CA.
My presence and work are also deeply rooted in my daily practice of self-cultivation, a committed spiritual path, and in my devotion to service. I am a firm believer that a healer can only help one go as far as they themselves have gone... So hiking, Martial Arts, and regular introspection and connection with Spirit are essential for me.
In my work as a bodyworker I draw on all those experiences, and, most importantly, on the innate healing ability of those I am honored to work with.

 Craniosacral Work

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle manual therapy that helps release restrictions from the very core of our system. The therapist gently tunes in and examines the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid and the elasticity of the associated membrane system that supports the central nervous system, the mobility of the cranial bones, and the body-wide response to the craniosacral rhythm. The treatment then involves releases of all those structures as found appropriate, as well as any other region of the body that exhibits signs of stagnation or trauma.
The client will usually experience a very deep relaxation shortly into the first session. A series of sessions are indicated in most cases where a health problem is being addressed. Many people also enjoy Craniosacral therapy as a preventive treatment - a way to stay relaxed and in-tune with one's inner truth. While most of the time people feel wonderful after sessions, minor temporary discomfort may be experienced as part of the healing process due to the release of complex restriction patterns and emotions that the body has been holding for some time. When we shake up old sediment, the water may appear murky, before it settles into a clearer and healthier way of being... Of course, I am always available to answer any questions and support your individual healing process.

The effects of this therapy are many, and are often deep. It has been found beneficial in a very wide array of health problems, including depression, anxiety, headaches, chronic pain, TMJ dysfunction, spinal problems, physical and emotional trauma, PTSD, fibromyalgia, and more. It is also highly beneficial to generally boost the immune system, help reverse the effects of prolonged stress, and re-establish a sense of connection to one's soul. It is safe for all stages of life, including all stages of pregnancy, as well as postpartum care. During Craniosacral work, I may employ a combination of light touch, guided imagery, and dialoguing to help you get to the core of your health concern and goals for wellness.

Craniosacral therapy would be highly beneficial to almost anyone, but you particularly may want to consider it for:

-symptoms that are chronic and have been resistant to other treatments
-emotional or physical trauma
-accumulation of tension, so common in our modern world (often manifesting as irritability, insomnia, fatigue, inflamation)
-children and teens affected by Autism, ADHD, depression, difficulty sleeping
-finding the emotional and soul roots of a difficult and possibly life-threatening diagnosis
- release of long-held emotions (this process can often lead to significant improvements in physical health)
-expansion of consciousness

 Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork style that draws on elements of Chinese medicine, incorporating modern western knowledge. It involves the systematic application of pressure along the body's meridians (energy pathways) and leads to improved energy flow, relief of emotional and physical stagnation, release of muscle tension, and may provide a boost to the immune response. In Japan Shiatsu is part of institutionalized health care - a great testament to the recognition of the powerful health benefits, both reparative and preventive, of this modality.

 Thai Floor Massage

Thai Floor massage, also termed Thai Yoga therapy, incorporates kneading, rocking, pressure, joint mobilizations, and deep passive stretches. It greatly improves the natural flow of energy in the body, releases tension, and helps improve flexibility. It is performed through comfortable clothes and with no oil or lotion, and leaves one feeling deeply rejuvenated. I incorporate the use of warm herbal packs into my Thai sessions - this is a very old part of this tradition, and has been passed down primarily through the feminine lineages of teachers.
The herbal packs add a multilayered healing effect:
- the heat helps muscle tension melt away and energy system to open up
- the therapeutic effects of the heated herbs penetrate the skin, promoting detoxification, deep release and relaxation, and a gentle healing effect on all our major systems (nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, heart...)
- the pleasant aromatherapeutic quality of the herbs is uplifting to our emotions and nurturing to our spirit
The packs contain the following traditional Thai herbs: Cinnamon leaves, Siamese ginger, Camphor, Lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves & peels, Eucalyptus leaves, Turmeric, Borneol flakes, and Fatalijone.
